Dr. Hani Mawardi

      Dr. Mawardi is an Oral Medicine, Orofacial Pain and Periodontology specialist. He graduated from Harvard School of Dental Medicine with a Doctorate (DMSc) degree and advanced training in these specialties. Afterward, he became a faculty member and clinician at the Division of Oral Medicine and Dentistry at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, USA where he ran a dental service covering out-patients and in-patients. He was appointed as Chair of the Oral and Maxillofacial Department at AlFarabi Private College, Jeddah from 2017 to 2019. Currently, he is an Associate Professor in the Department of Oral Diagnostic Science at King Abdulaziz University – Faculty of Dentistry.
      As part of Oral Medicine, Dr. Mawardi provides dental consultations and management of patients who are potential hematopoietic stem cell transplantation recipients as well as patients with head and neck cancer. In addition, he diagnoses and manages patients with various oral diseases and orofacial pain disorders which include conditions like vesiculo-bullous diseases, salivary gland disorders, oral graft-versus-host disease temporo-mandibular joint disorders and facial muscle pain.
In the field of Periodontics, Dr. Mawardi treats patients with medically complex conditions as well as healthy patients for all periodontally-related conditions. In addition, his practice includes implant dentistry as well as soft- and hard-tissue management including bone grafting procedures, gingival grafts and management of chronic and aggressive periodontal diseases.
       Dr. Mawardi’s research includes all fields of Oral Medicine, Orofacial Pain and Periodontology in addition to Epidemiology and Dental Education. He has more than 32 publications in peer-reviewed journals and has presented his research at worldwide venues with experts in the field. He recently published a book with the title of “Dental Considerations for Medication-Related Osteonecrosis of the Jaw” targeting dentists who treat patients with this particular disease.
